Timelines
I’m being pulled two ways.
Definitely, things are atomizing. Content is coming in shorter and shorter clips.
Even paragraphs are shrinking.
Shrinking.
Just like my attention.
I’m trying to read Emily Watson’s brilliant translation of The Iliad right now … and I am truly enjoying it … and also wow it’s a long book.
And, at the same time, I’m looking to the horizon more. I’ve been a member of The Long Now Foundation for twenty years, and I deeply admire their push to help us think about the next ten-thousand years. They’ve got a ten-thousand year clock they’re building, and they would say we were in the year 02024, so our calendar has the clear capacity to run for 100,000 years.
The projects I’m increasingly interested in are ones that run for a decade. It’s a slow, long play. Patience and presence are the trump cards.
What’s your relationship with time? What does the short-term mean to you? Long-term? What timescales are you working on?

She criticizes the conventional cycle of wealth generation and philanthropy as inefficient and introduces the concept of integrating positive impact directly into the business model from the outset.
Entrepreneurial Spirit and Systemic Change
Vicki describes her definition of an entrepreneur as someone who makes history and creates positive transformation. This redefinition shifts the focus from exploiting market conditions to making meaningful changes and highlights her commitment to rethinking traditional business practices.
Transformational Experience in Prague
The fall of the Berlin Wall was a transformative event for Vicki, who moved to Eastern Europe and immersed herself in a dynamic environment that spurred her entrepreneurial journey. This period allowed her to break free from predefined paths and explore new possibilities.
Dreaming as a Transformational Tool
Dreaming is presented as a vital practice for Vicki, helping her to reset and energize her mindset toward possibilities and solutions. She uses dreaming as a daily practice to maintain her energy and focus, particularly when facing obstacles or feeling drained.
Radical Generosity and Community Building
